After 75 years furnishing homes across the area, family-owned and operated Waltman Furniture will close its doors permanently. Owner Frank Waltman will retire following the store’s final liquidation sale that begins April 9. The building is for sale.
Waltman has hired leading furniture promotional sales specialists Planned Furniture Promotions (PFP) to handle all going-out-of-business details and events.
“Frank and his family have built an exceptional legacy,” said Tom Liddell, senior vice president of PFP. “Their dedication to customer service earned the trust of generations of customers, and we’re proud to support them through this final chapter.”
Waltman Furniture Co. was founded in 1951 by Vernon Waltman in a 4,000-square-foot showroom in Chicora, Pennsylvania. Built on a foundation of integrity and attentive customer service, the business grew steadily over the decades, becoming a trusted destination for fine furnishings, bedding and flooring across Butler and Armstrong counties. He later passed leadership of the family business to his son, Frank, in 1982. In 2016, Waltman Furniture Co. added a second location in Kittanning and later consolidated operations into that store in 2023, closing the flagship location.
The final liquidation sale begins April 9 at 13584 State Route 422, offering a broad selection of high-quality furniture, mattresses and accessories from top brands such as Beautyrest, Best Home Furnishings, Brooklyn Bedding, Flexsteel, HomeStretch, Leather Italia, Mayo Furniture, Mega Motion, Serta, Southern Motion, Spring Air, and Vaughan-Bassett.
The showroom and warehouse totaling 100,000 square feet are for sale, and interested parties may contact Chuck Swidzinski at (724) 283-0005. For more information on the final sale visit www.waltmanfurniture.com.
