Castlery Announces Opening of U.S. Flagship in Manhattan’s Chelsea Neighborhood

Castlery, the Singapore-founded contemporary furniture design brand known for its refined, design-forward approach to modern urban living, announces the opening of its first U.S. flagship showroom in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood. The 3,000-square-foot space marks the brand’s permanent entry into American retail—and a deliberate one at that.

With a decade long lease secured in Manhattan, this move signals more than physical expansion.

It marks a purposeful arrival rooted in design integrity, operational maturity, and a belief that in cities where every square foot matters, thoughtful furniture matters more.

“New York isn’t a place you test; it’s a place you commit,” said Declan Ee, co-founder of Castlery. “We’ve waited a long time to do this. Opening our first U.S. store here reflects how seriously we take the American customer and how seriously we take our craft. This isn’t about doing it fast. It’s about doing it right.”

A Decade in the Making

New York was always intended to be Castlery’s first U.S. retail location. Co-founders Declan Ee and Fred Ji began exploring Manhattan as early as 2018 before the brand had even launched U.S. e-commerce. When the pandemic paused retail plans, the company directed its efforts to strengthen its logistics network, refining the customer experience, and building the backbone required to support a long-term presence. Instead of rushing into retail when conditions stabilized, the company chose to wait until it felt operationally ready. After a two-year search that included reviewing more than 200 listings across Manhattan, Castlery secured its Chelsea showroom under a 10-year lease underscoring that this move is a long-term commitment.

"We said no many times,” said Ee. “Each viewing helped us clarify what we were really looking for - not just in terms of layout, but in feeling. When we found this space, it felt aligned. It felt like us. We’re excited to finally open our doors in New York.”

Located at 124 W 18th Street in Chelsea’s historic Ladies’ Mile district, the showroom sits in a neighborhood shaped by both architectural heritage and modern urban life. The space reflects a shared DNA between New York and Singapore: dense city living, design-literate consumers, and real spatial constraints that demand thoughtful solutions. At 3,000 square feet, the footprint is intentionally restrained and scaled to mirror the homes Castlery designs for and the way New Yorkers actually live.

Inside, 17 curated room sets demonstrate efficient, modern layouts that maximize every square foot without sacrificing comfort, materiality, or character. The design language blends Eastern and Western influences in a way that feels distinctly Castlery yet grounded in its Manhattan context. Soft ceiling treatments and layered textures introduce warmth and fluidity, while rattan accents and refined detailing nod to the brand’s heritage. Architectural cues referencing classic New York interiors ground the showroom in its local context. The result is a space that feels polished, intimate, and quietly confident.

A More Personal Retail Experience

To help New Yorkers bring their spaces to life, the Chelsea showroom will also offer complimentary one-on-one Interior Styling Service (ISS) consultations with Castlery’s Interior

Stylists. Customers will be guided through space planning, furniture selection, and curated layouts – ensuring each piece feels intentional and functional within their home. The goal is to offer a tailored design experience that extends beyond browsing to truly designing your home.
