Coaster Fine Furniture, a leading North American furniture distributor, is heading to the Winter Las Vegas Market this weekend with a major 42-sku Mix-and-Match Dining Program designed to maximize casual dining options on retail floors without the high-costs and long lead times typically associated with creating personalized looks.
The program, on view in Coaster’s main showroom (A-800) allows retailers to offer customers a choice of multiple table shapes in both regular and counter heights. Each SKU comes in three best-selling modern wood finishes, along with seven versatile and comfortable chairs or two stool designs, including solid wood and upholstered styles (including tufted) in a choice of cream boucle, grey fabric or black leatherette.
All in, mixing and matching the 27 dining height skus can result in 57 different dining set options and 24 counter height set combinations, and the modern transitional style hits the marks with stylish chair designs in natural oak, black oak and rich dark walnut finishes. This wide assortment is supported by Coaster’s bought product strategy which ensures every sku presented at the Winter Las Vegas Market showroom is in-stock, making buyer’s decision-making and planning much easier.
“We made a commitment to our customers and our sales team when we moved to our current Las Vegas showroom, that we would only present in-stock merchandise. Everything from our best-sellers to new introductions would be pre-bought, meaning it’s either already on-hand or has a confirmed arrival date,” said Crystal Nguyen, Coaster Fine Furniture’s vice president of merchandise and strategic product planning.
According to Nguyen, the 42-sku dining program required significant investment but Coaster is betting big because it offers retailers to choose merchandise that’s right for their region. This strategy ensures retailers can literally mix and match styles to maximize sales opportunities and allow buyers to select what is right for their markets.
“This is as close to a special-order casual dining program that an import company could possibly offer with the right sizes and the right skus in a choice of the most on-trend and relevant finishes in the category,” she said. “It gives consumers the option to personalize their look—pairing natural oak finishes with black, or walnut with black, or black with everything, because there are no wrong combinations, just the one that feels right for a specific space. They can pick from two types of round tables, a rectangular table, or a double-pedestal style, and choose whether they want regular or dining height. Then they have seven chair styles and two stool styles and the fabric choices to make it uniquely theirs.”
Most important, they can do all of it at an affordable price point. Suggested retails for tables in the program start at $599, with chairs (sold in sets of two) starting at $145.
