CDG Welcomes Copenhagen Imports to Roster of Retail Members

The Contemporary Design Group (CDG) has welcomed Copenhagen Imports of Sarasota, Florida, to its roster of independent retail members.

Established in 1982, the modern furnishings retailer was recently acquired by Kendall Wagler and Mary Klinger, who bring complementary experience in furniture manufacturing and small business operations. Copenhagen Imports operates a 6,500-square-foot showroom serving the Sarasota market with a focus on contemporary, design-forward furnishings. Its vendor lineup includes CDG Partners BDI, Stressless, Trica, and Copeland Furniture.

Wagler began his career with contemporary manufacturer Abner Henry, gaining firsthand experience in production, craftsmanship, and project management. His approach emphasizes product integrity, thoughtful curation, and personalized service.

Klinger contributes decades of operational and leadership experience from roles in hospitality, retail, and service-based businesses. She oversees internal operations and supports the retailer’s strategic direction.

Together, Wagler and Klinger aim to build on Copenhagen Imports’ legacy while collaborating with the CDG community and sharing ideas with other independent retailers.

The Contemporary Design Group (CDG) is a national association of independent home furnishings retailers specializing in modern and contemporary design. Founded in 1983, CDG connects like-minded showrooms through collaboration, shared expertise, and partnerships with leading manufacturers. The group includes 35 showrooms in 31 cities across the United States.
