IKEA & Save the Children Team Up to Address Food Insecurity

IKEA U.S. is deepening its commitment to family well-being during its “Year of Cooking & Eating” by partnering with longtime ally Save the Children on its Hunger-Free Communities initiative supporting efforts that help reduce child hunger and strengthen local access to nutritious food across the U.S.
From Nov 1 through Dec 31, IKEA will match customer donations dollar-for-dollar, up to $100,000, doubling the impact to address food insecurity and give children a healthy start in life— supporting nutrition, learning, and play.
“At IKEA, creating a better everyday life means more than offering affordable home furnishings, it means helping families meet their most basic needs,” said Sam Eisenman, Sustainability Business Partner, IKEA U.S. “Through our partnership with Save the Children, we’re working to make sure more children can learn, play, and thrive.”
“In 2023, nearly one in five American households with kids faced food insecurity, with rural communities hit especially hard. Nutrition touches every aspect of a child’s life— from health to education and emotional well-being,” said Clare Rodger, Chief Marketing and Growth Officer of Save the Children US. “We’re committed to breaking down these barriers by helping families access nutritious meals, supporting both immediate needs and long-term potential.”
The campaign shines a light on the growing challenge of food insecurity in the U.S., where millions of children face hunger each year. Save the Children’s Hunger-Free Communities program builds local, long-term solutions, partnering with schools and community organizations to expand access to nutritious meals and family resources.
