Asian Loft Invites Market Attendees to the 25th Anniversary at HPMKT

Asian Loft invites attendees to experience The World of Artistry, Curated — a celebration of craftsmanship, culture, and discovery as the company marks its 25th anniversary at the Fall High Point Market. Known for its adventurous spirit and reverence for authentic, handcrafted design, Asian Loft continues to present one-of-a-kind and unexpected furnishings and artifacts that embody artistry from across the globe.
Founded in 2000 by Lieve Sonneville, Asian Loft was born from her intrepid journeys across Asia, often described as the work of a modern-day “Indiana Jones.” Over the past quarter-century, Lieve and her son Steven Sonneville have built an internationally recognized brand rooted in exploration, storytelling, and the belief that great design transcends borders.
This Market’s presentation at 625 W. Ward Avenue, Suite 100 is a compelling curation — where ancient origins meet modern sensibility through an array of rare and meaningful pieces.
We invite you to the showroom to browse the entire collection; or, review the featured items below.
Asian Noodle Cabinets
Inspired by traditional Asian antiques, these exquisite cabinets fuse ancient design with contemporary versatility. Crafted from solid pine with a distressed finish and fitted with either antique brass or rubbed black hardware, they bring quiet sophistication to any interior. Available with or without exterior drawers, they may be displayed singly or in pairs for a balanced, architectural look.
Toraja Panels
Each authentic panel represents a fragment of history from the Toraja people of Sulawesi, Indonesia. Hailing from generations of sea-going ancestors, the Toraja build their homes and outbuildings with a silhouette reminiscent of a boat. They decorate them with important symbols. Hand-carved from the wooden walls of these centuries-old homes and rice barns, every panel is a one-of-a-kind expression of artistry and storytelling — celebrating a culture that has thrived for generations in harmony with its natural surroundings.
Nepalese Household Pots & Vessels
Hand-carved from wood and finished in a rare rubbed black patina, these vintage vessels from Nepal and Northern India once served as utilitarian objects — holding oil, milk, or medicinal herbs. Their smooth, timeworn surfaces and sculptural silhouettes make them stunning decorative accents that honor everyday beauty and craft with a contemporary aesthetic.
Nacre Onyx Bowls
Glimmering with ethereal hues, these hand-carved nacre onyx bowls are rare treasures typically reserved for fine jewelry. Transformed by skilled Mexican artisans into organic yet refined vessels, each piece exudes quiet luxury — a testament to both material beauty and artisanal mastery.
Ficus Tree Trunk from Indonesia
A breathtaking natural sculpture, this nearly 20-foot-tall Ficus trunk was discovered fallen in the Indonesian jungle. Cleaned and preserved by local artists, its organic contours and monumental scale transform any space into a gallery of nature’s design.
Antique Storage Cabinet
Dating to the late 19th century, this once-forgotten Chinese storage cabinet was meticulously restored by local craftsmen. Its newly applied cerulean lacquer glows against the original brass hardware — a stunning revival of history, craftsmanship, and color.
