Rubelli Introduces Innovative Collaborations Through Material Exploration

Rubelli, creator of luxury textiles, introduced two collections this season, releasing on Sept 15. ROCOCO & KIEFFER UNTITLED III showcase Rubelli's commitment to both artistic heritage and contemporary design sensibilities.

From art-inspired opulence to understated material mastery, these collections demonstrate how exceptional textiles can transform any interior.

ROCOCO, Peter Marino's third capsule collection, transforms 18th-century Tiepolo watercolors into nine dual-sided silk fabrics.

The collection transforms two watercolor drawings by Giandomenico Tiepolo from the architect's private collection. This third collaboration between the New York-based architect and Rubelli demonstrates how historical art can be reimagined for contemporary luxury interiors.

Marino’s inspiration came from Tiepolo's drawings of Psyche flying to Olympus and centaur motifs, he personally traced and selected the most striking sections, entrusting them to Rubelli's style office for new interpretations.

The result is a collection where figurative elements become abstract forms conveying lively movement, “light signs that seem to float in the air, no longer traceable to their source."

Thanks to particular technical innovations, all nine silk fabrics are designed for dual-sided use, effectively creating eighteen different design variations from a single collection. The perception of movement is accentuated through well-calibrated metallic yarns. Gold and silver threads create the collection's signature sparkling effect, while the palette features natural sketch paper tones anchoring vibrant greens, reds, and yellows with luminous watercolor-inspired accents.

Produced entirely at Rubelli's weaving mill in Como, these textile creations are particularly suitable for decoration and luxury interior applications.

KIEFFER UNTITLED III is the latest chapter in Formafantasma's renewed vision for the brand, featuring nine textiles that speak through pure materials and honest construction.

The collection advances the brand's exploration of domestic environment through textiles—attentive to what truly matters: the weave, the touch, the colour palette, and the life of a fabric. This latest chapter in the trilogy that began with Formafantasma's renewed vision represents not a conclusion, but a further unfolding.

The collection comprises nine fabrics (seven upholstery, two curtains) that prioritize tactile experience over narrative. Natural fibers—linen, hemp, cotton, wool—remain the foundation while the language of tactility widens into new densities, rhythms, and textures. Selected synthetic fibers are used not only to ensure durability and performance, but also to expand the range of creative expression.

A calm clarity defines the palette: familiar hues re-imagined, earth-derived tones, and the gentle audacity of imperfection. The collection draws inspiration from distant geographies and ancient mythologies - fabric names like Kemet, Vik, and Daedalus remind us that textile-making is always a form of storytelling.

Notable sustainability features include hemp fabric that requires less water for cultivation, is biodegradable and recyclable, and absorbs CO2 during growth. Special resin processing generates no waste, aligning with sustainable development goals, while handcrafted Italian production uses exclusively Italian raw materials.

These textiles do not imitate nature; they emerge from it. As the collection's philosophy states: "No title is needed. The textiles are talking."
