Gift for Life’s Home vs. Hunger Teams with World Central Kitchen at HPMKT

This Fall, Gift For Life’s Home vs Hunger team invites High Point Market attendees to the most exclusive event that doesn’t actually exist. A new twist on their signature “Party with a Purpose,” the Home vs Hunger Non-Event, Event offers marketgoers the chance to skip yet another cocktail party and instead make a meaningful impact by donating directly to World Central Kitchen (WCK).
Instead of adding another soirée to the crowded Market calendar, Home vs Hunger is asking participants to “buy a ticket” to an event that won’t require RSVPs, dress codes, or juggling wine glasses and catalogs. Every dollar raised goes directly to World Central Kitchen to provide meals to people in crisis, because just $3 equals one full meal.
“High Point Market is overflowing with showroom parties, so we decided to do something different,” Russ Jones, Gift for Life Board Member and Home vs Hunger Event Chair. “By skipping the party and donating instead, attendees can turn the cost of ONE Market martini into two hot meals for people in need.”
How It Works
- Donate online during High Point Market (Oct. 25–29). https://www.giftforlife.org/donate
- Snap a pic of yourself enjoying a drink while doing good.
- Tag @GiftForLife to spread the word.
Your “ticket” may not get you into a ballroom, but it will help World Central Kitchen provide nourishment and hope both nationally and across the globe.
Examples of Impact:
- One Market Martini = 2 hot meals served
- One Uber across town = feeding a family
- One charcuterie board = a week’s worth of groceries
The Home vs Hunger Non-Event Event proves that sometimes the best way to make an impact is by staying in, raising a glass, and giving back.
Gift for Life’s Home Vs Hunger initiative, which debuted at High Point Market in October 2022, has now raised more than $112,000 through various fundraising activities, including in-person events at High Point Market and online campaigns. Our goal for this event is $25,000 to support World Central Kitchen’s efforts. Donate today and be part of the event that doesn’t exist but makes a very real impact.
