Fromental Announces Enduring Vision by Amy Lau

Fromental announces Phantasm by Amy Lau: Enduring Vision. What began as bespoke wallcovering for Amy's Manhattan home evolved into more of a legacy since Amy’s passing.

Phantasm captures her distinctive aesthetic and approach to beautiful living. Having worked together for many years, Fromental is honored to be sharing Amy's vision with the wider design community.

Tim Butcher, co-founder of Fromental says, “This design began in joyful conversation, with Amy’s fearless eye, her delight in the unexpected, her deep reverence for materials and craft. Designing with her was always a thrill: she brought light, laughter, and fierce elegance to everything she touched.”

Phantasm embodies the shared passion for innovative craftsmanship and materials of exceptional quality that are distinctive to Fromental and the artist. Its painterly, abstract pattern draws inspiration from iridescent Loetz glass, Tiffany's renowned turn-of-the-century rival. As light moves across Loetz glass, colors shift and blend continuously. Phantasm captures this dance of light and color.

Across panels of wet-dyed silk, the design captures the alluring dance of light and color, with layers of ethereal swirls and golden metallic markings applied in homage to Gustav Klimt's famed Tears of Freya.

With Amy's passing, Fromental's design collaboration stands as a tribute to her extraordinary talent. Honoring her generous spirit, a share of proceeds from each sale with support causes chosen by her family, extending her legacy beyond design.

Butcher concludes, “Our final collaboration, created for her own home, holds all the vitality and vision that defined her and the aesthetic we shared: polished brutalism softened by luminous color, the shimmer of the unexpected made timeless. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit continues in every bold line and radiant surface. This piece is both a celebration and a remembrance: a tribute to Amy’s eternal eye, and the beauty she so effortlessly conjured. We carry it forward now, with love and gratitude, in her name.”
