Selden’s Purchases Schoenfeld Interiors and Plans Transition

Seldens Designer Home Furnishings, a fourth-generation Puget Sound retailer, has purchased longtime Bellevue retailer Schoenfeld Interiors and plans to relocate to the 11555 Northup Way showroom in September. As part of the acquisition, Seldens is working with owner Bob Schoenfeld, who is retiring, to ensure a smooth transition for clients. Seldens will handle the delivery of remaining Schoenfeld client orders and refresh the space in preparation for the Seldens Bellevue reopening this fall.
“There’s a strong overlap in our design philosophy, product lines, and above all, in how we serve clients,” said General Manager Jake Cross, a fourth-generation Seldens family member. “We’ve always believed that helping people create a beautiful home is a collaborative process — and Bob and his team have lived that same belief. It’s an honor to continue their legacy in the space they have occupied for so many years.”
Both family businesses have long histories in Washington’s furniture scene. The Schoenfeld family’s opened the Bellevue showroom in 1994, over 30 years ago. Meanwhile, in a full-circle twist, Seldens’ patriarch Syd Selden began his career in the industry in a Schoenfeld family store, before founding his own floor covering business in Tacoma in 1940.
“The fact that my grandfather got his start in a Schoenfeld family store makes this transition feel especially meaningful,” said Scott Selden, third-generation co-owner. “We’re not just moving showrooms — we’re linking arms with a neighbor whose family history and values helped shape our own.”
For Seldens Bellevue, the new location provides a strategic improvement. The 17,000-square-foot showroom on Northup Way offers better visibility, easier parking, and a more convenient shopping experience than their current mixed-use location at 10708 Main Street. The company will continue to offer personalized in-home design consultations, ongoing collaboration with experienced professionals, and access to customizable furniture collections.
“Bob Schoenfeld built his showroom to be a true home for designers,” said Cross. “We’re honored to share those values and uphold that tradition as our company continues to grow and expand across the Puget Sound region.”
“This is a win for everyone,” said Schoenfeld. “I get to retire knowing my clients and team are in good hands, and Seldens gets a great location and great people. It’s the right way to do it.”
