Modus Furniture and Mazing GmbH Expand Relationship

An Austrian startup is making waves across the U.S. furniture industry. Mazing GmbH, based in Vienna and Houston with a presence across the United States, has developed a “one-stop content shop” that turns a single 3D model into all the product visuals a brand needs — from augmented reality room previews to AI-generated lifestyle photography.

The U.S. furniture manufacturer Modus Furniture, headquartered in California, was first a customer of Mazing and has now become an investor, marking a significant milestone as the company expands globally.

Mazing’s browser-based platform helps furniture brands reduce the complexity and cost of content creation. High-quality, realistic product visuals are generated without traditional photoshoots or logistics. Because the solution runs entirely in a web browser, retailers of any size can easily integrate 3D and AI content into their online stores. Brands such as OTTO and Toshiba are already using Mazing to deliver 3D, AR, and AI-enhanced product visuals at scale.

“Creating content for hundreds of products is incredibly resource-intensive,” says CEO Manuel Messner. “Our platform saves time and money while giving customers realistic product experiences. Having a U.S. partner like Modus validate our vision is a major milestone.”

Realistic Visualization Reduces Returns Visual accuracy is critical. Texture, color, and detail must reflect the real product to build consumer trust. Studies show that realistic product previews can reduce avoidable returns. According to German environmental authorities, each furniture return generates roughly 1 pound of CO₂. By improving the buying experience with 3D and AI content, Mazing contributes to more sustainable e-commerce practices.

Growth and International Momentum Founded in 2021 in Vienna by Manuel Messner (CEO), Stefan Sprenger (CTO), and Marco Messner (COO), Mazing grew quickly despite challenging market conditions in Europe. The U.S. investment by Modus Furniture underscores the company’s potential for global impact in the furniture industry.

“In five years, no furniture retailer will operate without 3D and AI content,” says Messner. “We’re showing that innovative solutions can come from Austria and influence markets around the world.”

Browser-Based AR and AI Without Apps Mazing works entirely in the browser — no downloads or installation required. Companies receive both the 3D models and the platform technology for easy integration with online stores via plug-ins or API. Packages for smaller businesses start at $49 per month, including a free trial, while larger retailers can access customized solutions with AI-assisted 3D model creation.
