Common Thread for the Cure Celebrates 25 Year Milestone
July 31,
2025 by Karen Parrish in Business Strategy, Industry
This year marks the 25th anniversary of The Common Thread for the Cure Foundation. Since its inception in 2000, the organization has remained dedicated to supporting individuals and their family members in the furnishings and design industry who are facing breast cancer.
Founded by Suzann Burkhead Bray and her brother Scott Burkhead, in memory of their younger sister Sandra Burkhead Campbell—who died from breast cancer. The foundation has grown into a trusted source of hope and financial relief, helping survivors focus on healing by easing some of the financial stress that comes with the diagnosis. After seeing firsthand how devastating this disease can be—not only for the person fighting it but for their entire family—Bray directed her passion toward helping others. That was the birth of The Common Thread for the Cure. The foundation provides grants that can be used to meet financial responsibilities, allowing survivors to focus on what matters most—survival.
This milestone is a reminder that compassion, community, and care remain at the core of everything that the organization aspires to.
22nd Annual Common Thread for the Cure Golf Tournament
The 22nd Annual Common Thread for the Cure Golf Tournament raised over $100,000 to help breast cancer survivors in the furniture industry. The grants provided by the fund allow survivors to focus on healing instead of the stress of paying for their medical care.
