IKEA U.S. Celebrates Pride with Annual Initiatives & Supporting Local Celebrations

As a values driven company, IKEA U.S. is celebrating Pride month by supporting local Pride celebrations nationwide and launching annual initiatives such as the Rainbow Cake and STORSTOMMA givebacks.

IKEA U.S. is working closely with Pride Parades in Washington D.C., San Francisco, and the Twin Cities throughout June and will host a hospitality area at World Pride in D.C.

“As a company who has always stood by the many, IKEA U.S. is proud to support and celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community and allies in their work to make meaningful and measurable change,” said Ciannie Rodriguez, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Manager, IKEA U.S. “Our ongoing partnership with organizations like Rainbow Railroad and the Trevor Project, whose life-changing work empowers and protects LGBTQIA+ individuals, allow us to support the cause in an authentic way that encourages folks to embrace their space and make a difference.”

On a national level, IKEA U.S. is in its second year of the Rainbow Cake giveback, pledging to donate up to $150,000* to its ongoing partner, Rainbow Railroad, a nonprofit organization that helps LGBTQIA+ people facing persecution based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, and sex characteristics in their native nations. The collaboration with Rainbow Railroad will support their mission to help at-risk LGBTQIA+ people get to safety around the world and specifically their Communities of Care Emergency Fund. The Rainbow Cake is available at IKEA Restaurants nationwide for $3.99, with $1 from each sale of a slice of the cake from May to July going towards the giveback.

Additionally, IKEA U.S. is working with longtime partner, The Trevor Project, a national organization dedicated to suicide prevention efforts among LGBTQIA+ youth, for its annual STORSTOMMA bag giveback. Throughout June, IKEA U.S. will donate 100% of the retail sale price of both sizes of its iconic STORSTOMMA bag, up to $50,000**. Since its launch in 2020, the STORSTOMMA giveback has donated over $300,000 to various LGBTQIA+ organizations nationwide.
