King Koil Appoints Industry Vet as Senior VP of Strategic Vice President

As part of its strategy of expanding and enhancing its sales division, luxury bedding manufacturer King Koil has appointed 30-year industry veteran Bob McCarthy to the new role of senior vice president of strategic development.
McCarthy has a storied career in the mattress industry, most recently as managing director of Resident Home’s retail network of stores. He started the retail channel for Resident in 2018 and ultimately grew its footprint to more than 4,000 stores in North America, before it was acquired by Ashley Furniture.
Prior to Resident, he spent nearly 12 years with Tempur Sealy International rising to division vice president of sales. Earlier in his career he spent six years with Simmons, starting as a sales representative and ultimately becoming a key account manager before leaving the company.
“I have known Bob for many years and have watched his success building brands in our industry both on the wholesale and retail side of the business. I know he will be a great asset to our retail partners and sales team as a resource to help grow our national footprint,” said King Koil CEO David Binke. “Bob joins a great sales management team by adding another strategic dimension to what we can offer our customers.”
McCarthy will also being working closely with King Koil strategic partner Blue Bell Mattress Co. in the eastern region of the United States.

The McCarthy appointment comes on the heels of the company’s announcement it had promoted three veteran executives to expanded roles to further support it sales organization.
Long-time executive David Long was promoted to chief innovation officer and executive vice president of national sales. Doug Kinde, senior vice president of national accounts, will now report to Long. Chris Taheny who joined the company earlier this year as senior vice president of new business development adds responsibilities for overseeing sales activities in the south and midwest, and Jacob Bell is now vice president of sales for the western region.
McCarthy received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts, where he majored in business administration and management. In addition to his professional experience, he is a director of the Zachary Thompkins Memorial Fund, a non-profit dedicated to creating awareness about Long QT syndrome and named after an 11-year-old family friend who died from the disease in 2010. He has been active in coaching youth sports for several decades in New Hampshire.
He resides in Merrimac, New Hampshire with his family.
