Seldens Acquires Schoenfeld Interiors & Begins Transition with Sale & Move

Seldens Designer Home Furnishings,  a fourth-generation Puget Sound retailer, has purchased longtime Bellevue retailer Schoenfeld Interiors. From mid-May through July, Seldens will host a Schoenfeld Interiors Retirement Sale at Schoenfeld’s showroom, 11555 Northup Way, before relocating Seldens Bellevue to the Northup Way space later this year.

As part of the acquisition, Seldens is working with owner Bob Schoenfeld — who is retiring after a celebrated career serving Bellevue clients with personalized design attention and high-quality furnishings — to ensure a smooth transition for clients. Seldens will handle the delivery of remaining Schoenfeld client orders and refresh the space in preparation for the Seldens Bellevue reopening this fall.

“There’s a strong overlap in our design philosophy, product lines, and above all, in how we serve clients,” said General Manager Jake Cross, a fourth-generation Seldens family member. “We’ve always believed that helping people create a beautiful home is a collaborative process — and Bob and his team have lived that same belief. It’s an honor to continue their legacy in the space they have occupied for so many years.”

Both family businesses have long histories in Washington’s furniture scene. The Schoenfeld family’s roots in the trade date back to 1865 and Bob Schoenfeld opened the Bellevue showroom in 1994, over 30 years ago. Meanwhile, in a full-circle twist, Seldens’ patriarch Syd Selden began his career in the industry in a Schoenfeld family store, before founding his own floor covering business in Tacoma in 1940.

“The fact that my grandfather got his start in a Schoenfeld family store makes this transition feel especially meaningful,” said Scott Selden, third-generation co-owner. “We’re not just moving showrooms — we’re linking arms with a neighbor whose family history and values helped shape our own.”

For Seldens Bellevue, the new location provides a strategic improvement. The 17,000-square-foot showroom on Northup Way offers better visibility, easier parking, and a more convenient shopping experience than their current mixed-use location at 10708 Main Street.

Current clients of Seldens Designer Home Furnishings can expect a thoughtful transition over the next few months, ending with a refreshed new showroom, featuring the same high-quality lines — and a few exciting additions from the Schoenfeld portfolio. The company will continue to offer personalized in-home design consultations, ongoing collaboration with experienced professionals, and access to top-quality, customizable furniture collections.

The Seldens team also looks forward to continuing relationships with Schoenfeld’s talented designers — professionals who share a design-forward approach and long-standing client trust. For longtime Schoenfeld clients, that means a familiar level of care and expertise will carry forward, along with trusted faces and the personalized service they’ve come to expect.

“Bob Schoenfeld built his showroom to be a true home for designers,” said Cross. “We’re honored to share those values and uphold that tradition as our company continues to grow and expand across the Puget Sound region.”

“We’re competitors, sure, but we’ve also been friends with Bob for years,” noted Selden. “That’s a beautiful thing about the Northwest furniture market. There’s a level of mutual admiration and cooperation that can be pretty special — and this transition reflects that.”

“This is a win for everyone,” agreed Schoenfeld. “I get to retire knowing my clients and team are in good hands, and Seldens gets a great location and great people. It’s the right way to do it.”
