BEDGEAR Celebrates Sustainable Choices on Earth Day

This Earth Day BEDGEAR wants to highlight how the company is taking bold steps to address the waste crisis in the bedding industry, from engineering modular, customizable products to diverting over 13 million plastic bottles annually.

BEDGEAR has unveiled a sustainability page on their website, sharing the multitude of ways the company is taking their carbon foot print seriously.

Personalized Fit: Designing products designed to meet individual sleep needs - one size doesn’t fit all - its products reduce the likelihood of returns and waste. By engineering products with modularity and personal fit in mind, BEDGEAR significantly decreases the likelihood of returns and comfort exchanges; meaning less waste, lower emissions, and fewer products contributing to landfill overflow.

Environmentally Responsible Engineering: Woven into every layer of its product design, from modular features that extend product lifespan and materials that reduce waste and conserve energy, and machine-washable covers made from hydrophobic materials that require less water and energy to clean. Each of these engineering choices are sustainable solutions that provide better ways to preserve our planet.

More than 50% recycled content is used in BEDGEAR's Performance Pillows, and by using this material, they divert an average of 13 million plastic bottles annually.

Founder & CEO Eugene Alletto shared, “BEDGEAR's dedication to sustainability is not just about protecting the planet but empowering our customers to make mindful choices about their sleep and environmental impact. With the High Point Market approaching, we are excited to share our progress with industry partners and showcase how our products are designed with sustainability in mind. Our new Sustainability Page is a direct reflection of BEDGEAR’s ongoing commitment to lead by example in both sleep innovation and environmental stewardship.”

In addition to all of the materials the company is using to underscore the brand’s commitment to reducing waste and advancing a circular economy, BEDGEAR has also amplified its commitments to its Plant-a-Tree Program, expanding and automating the role in global reforestation.

For every online order, BEDGEAR funds the planting of a Mangrove tree—nature’s powerful carbon sink—in Kenya or Madagascar. Each Mangrove can absorb up to 680 pounds of CO₂ over its 25+ year lifespan, storing carbon deep in its roots beneath the ocean floor where it remains safely trapped and out of the atmosphere. To date, BEDGEAR has planted 54,837 trees, removing an estimated 16,999.47 tons of CO₂ from the environment. Building on this success, the program now includes tree planting for online orders placed in Australia, expanding its impact beyond the U.S. and reinforcing BEDGEAR’s dedication to reducing the environmental footprint of e-commerce.

With over 18 million mattresses discarded annually in the U.S. alone, BEDGEAR’s personalized approach not only elevates the sleep experience—it also supports a more sustainable future.

Alletto concluded, “Sustainability is not a destination—it’s a daily commitment to doing better. At BEDGEAR, we believe innovation and responsibility go hand in hand. As we grow, so does our determination to shape a future where sleep and environmental care are one and the same.”
