Englander, a leading mattress brand, has extended its 18-year partnership with leading Egyptian bedding manufacturer BedJenssen for another five years, with a newly signed licensee agreement. The transaction continues to give Englander a presence in Egypt, Algeria, and Morocco.
BedJenssen, based in Cairo, was founded in 1954, and is considered the longest continually operating vertically integrated mattress producer in the Middle East. It has three factories, 1,400 employees, six retail locations, sells online and has a large wholesale distribution business. The company’s hospitality business includes manufacturing product for IHG hotels and Four Seasons properties.
Mohamed Mostafa, vice president of BedJenssen and a third-generation member of its founding family, said that as a young adult he spent summers in Los Angeles where a relative held the local Englander license. He would work summers in the plant and was impressed with the brand’s quality, value, and design. In 2007 he brought Englander to Egypt.
“My grandfather and father created the BedJenssen brand. I wanted to make my mark on the company with a new brand. Englander has been incredibly successful for us in the region where U.S. products have historically been respected for their high quality,” he said.
The company is currently producing and selling 14 Englander models.
“Mohamed and BedJenssen have been partners of ours for a long time. They are quality producers who know how to market the brand in their region, and we are very happy to continue our relationship,” said Englander President and CEO Lou Paige.
