IKEA U.S. released its 2024 Annual Summary and announced that eight new format stores will open across the U.S. in 2025. The report also shares a look back at how the company has continued to prioritize and reach customers in new and innovative ways.
“Our strategy continues to prioritize our customer’s needs, and in FY24, we continued to make everyday living more accessible, especially during a time when we know economic challenges are leading to a decrease in disposable income for many Americans,” said CEO and Chief Sustainability Officer Javier Quiñones. “As we gear up for the 40th anniversary of IKEA U.S. in 2025, we’re committed to reaching even more customers where they are..
Growing our footprint
IKEA U.S. has seen major gains in its long-term investment in the U.S., increasing market share by 13.6% over the last five years. Building off of the $2.2+ billion investment in the company’s omnichannel growth strategy, in 2025, IKEA U.S. will continue its expansion journey by opening eight new locations including seven new Plan & order points with Pick-up, welcoming new customers in Cherry Hill, Pennsylvania, Hunt Valley, Maryland, Beaverton, Oregon, Scottsdale, Arizona and three locations in California – Thousand Oaks, Ontario, and Colma – as well as one Pick-up point in Santa Monica. All of the new format stores are projected to open by the spring/summer of 2025, and more details will be shared about each location throughout the year.
Plan & order points with Pick-up are one of many new format stores that are a part of the IKEA U.S growth strategy. It is different from the traditional large-format IKEA stores as it gives customers the opportunity to meet with the IKEA store team to plan and order home furnishing solutions that require a bit more help – such as kitchen, bathroom and closet storage systems. With the addition of the IKEA Pick-up point, customers will be able to collect their purchases when and where it’s convenient for them.
