Kingsdown, Inc. Releases New Wave at Winter Market

Luxury bedding manufacturer, Kingsdown, Inc., is unleashing a new wave at the Winter Market in Las Vegas, a patented coil system that executives believe represents the next evolution in conventional pocket coils.
Unlike traditional zoned units, the Wave Coil’s gradient wave support gently contours to the body with stacked, multi-gauge coils for reduced shoulder and hip pressure, and increased lumbar support. Motion separation construction mitigates partner disturbance.
“The wave-like coils perfectly match the shape of the human body which is naturally curved,” said Craig Wilson, vice president of sales training and education at Kingsdown. “From a structural standpoint, coils at the head and foot of the mattress are a lighter gauge and a little bit softer, while the coils in the middle are a heavier gauge and therefore a little bit stronger. Hence the wave. The reason this is so revolutionary is that rather than the body adjusting to the coils, the coils are already pre-adjusted to the body, with more fluid, gradual transitions.
At the Market this week, the new coil system is playing a starring role in a runway-ready refresh of the couture-driven Vintage collection, with retails ranging from $3,099 to $5,599 in queen. This season, the Kingsdown design team has softened Vintage’s more modern iterations with textural upholstery weight covers and matching borders with inviting hands and a refined aesthetic in the vein of a luxury Italian fashion house.
Classically styled, Vintage features elegant hand-tufted knit covers quilted with wool to dissipate heat and provide cooling benefits, while thick layers of fine natural materials like cotton, Joma and Alpaca wool enhance softness and wick away moisture to help regulate body temperature. In addition to the new Wave Coil system, luxurious latex foam enhances pressure relief and maximizes supportive comfort while Airflow technology promotes air circulation and breathability.
Shown in a selection of green, rust, and white upholstery fabrics with thick tapes and matching box springs in the front window display of the showroom, and in light grey, beige and white inside, Kingsdown will allow dealers to choose the color they want and apply it to the collection they want.
The best-selling, entry-level luxury Passions collection, with retails ranging from $1,599 to $2,299, is now dressed in paisley covers and borders, and it too has been revamped from cover to core with new Wave Coil configurations.
“The coil system for me is like the engine of a car,” said Kingsdown Chairman Mike James. “Most suppliers out there continue to use similar coil systems, but I believe in order for us to really distinguish ourselves in the marketplace, it is necessary to do something entirely different.
