Coaster Fine Furniture is introducing a series of exclusive collections at Winter Market in Las Vegas inspired by the popular staycation trend and the natural, mixed media California cool of coastal contemporary style.
The leading North American furniture distributer is leaning into helping retailers and designers reimagine home as getaway this season with a relaxed modern feel that emphasizes wellness and making spaces more spa-like. To achieve the desired effect, the emphasis in showroom A800-801 is on natural materials like cane, finely woven rattan, grass cloth and light finishes like warm beige oak, sand wash, and white oak veneer mixed with textured, linen-like fabrics and ‘70s-inspired silhouettes.
Witness the new Kailani collection, an exclusive Coaster design with cane back chairs, beautifully shaped trestle table and a tall arched Vitrine Cabinet in the dining room combining beige oak and fabrics with resin cane and brushed gold hardware. According to Crystal Nguyen, vice president of merchandise and strategic product planning at Coaster, Kailani marries the yin and yang of a weathered wood finish with a very contemporary silhouette, plenty of storage and washed oak in a light warm tone.
Consumers see their homes now as the place they most want to escape to, and retailers need to be able to translate the staycation attitude for them as this trend continues to gain momentum. It’s not necessary to live on the coast to gravitate toward this relaxed, chill vibe.
The new Bexhill bedroom is another of Coaster’s exclusive, modern coastal looks, this one with curved cases and raffia-cloth wrapped drawer fronts in a true white painted finish. The best-selling Arini bedroom, another exclusive, also plays up natural and organic style with rounded corners, a mix of wire brushed black wood frames, aged brass legs and a choice of bed styles in rattan or grey upholstery.
“We’re receiving tremendous reaction from retailers and interior designers to designs like these that we have developed in house, pieces that are substantive and make a statement in a room, such as our new tall Vitrine Cabinet from Kailani collection which is considerably larger than most of the arched cases out there in the market now,” said Nguyen. “These are not the out-of-the-box KD pieces that people used to associate with Coaster. We continue to level up and explore new ideas and materials at a variety of price points to deliver tangible value to our customers.”
Indeed, she said, “You want solid wood, and have the budget for it? Coaster has it. You want a look for less with great construction, quality, and finish? Then come see us this Market because we have that for you too, and we’re doing it in different shapes and silhouettes, in colors that will appeal to the masses to ensure they will be successful in your store at larger volumes.”
