IKEA U.S. Assists with Wildfire Relief for Southern California

In the wake of the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, IKEA U.S. is donating essential relief products to local organizations, providing free meals to first responders and making financial and in-kind contributions to its national non-profit partner organizations, American Red Cross, Good 360 and Save the Children.

“At IKEA, we believe in the power of community and the importance of coming together in times of need. In response to the destruction and devastation caused by the wildfires, we are committed to providing immediate and meaningful support to those affected,” said Javier Quiñones, CEO and Chief Sustainability Officer, IKEA U.S.

To support those affected by the wildfires:

  • IKEA U.S. has partnered with the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce and Santa Monica College, an official donation site, to organize essential aid for evacuees. Over 50 co-workers from the LA stores (Burbank, Carson, Covina, Costa Mesa, Arcadia, Laguna Hills, and Santa Monica) dedicated 250 volunteer hours to organize and sort donations and provided 3,000+ FRAKTA bags for evacuees.
  • IKEA also has partnered with TaskRabbit, deploying taskers with vehicles to sort, organize and transport donations.
  • All stores in the LA market are hosting clothing drives and will continue to be collection sites for free clothing for evacuees.
  • First responders can also visit participating IKEA stores and receive a free meal* until January 31, 2025.

‌‌Further, IKEA is committed to supporting its national partners and will be donating $100,000 in cash to the American Red Cross and $100,000 in in-kind products to Good360. Building on the $17,000+ raised from its recent holiday campaign for Save the Children, IKEA U.S. will also round up the total commitment to $100,000 for social-emotional and mental health support for children affected by the fires.

“We are inspired by the resilience and strength of the Southern California community. Together, we will overcome this challenge and rebuild stronger than ever,” continued Quiñones.

In addition, to the relief aid, the safety and well-being of IKEA co-workers is a top priority, and there are several programs available to impacted co-workers including temporary housing, financial assistance and counseling.
