Illulian Announces Participation in Maison & Objet 2025

Illulian, the Italian brand globally known for its custom-made, handcrafted luxury rugs, announces its participation in Maison & Objet 2025 and unveils the new designs that enrich its Limited Edition Collection: the Turan and Automata rugs signed by Italian designer and architect Elena Cutolo.

Known for her original and poetic approach to design, she has collaborated with internationally renowned studios, including Memphis Milano and Sottsass Associati. Her career stands out for her bold use of color, material exploration, and ability to create objects that blend functionality and storytelling, tradition and modernity.

Infused with vibrant colors, original forms, and a sense of memory, these rugs transcend their functional purpose to become storytelling objects, evoking childhood memories and infusing interiors with a sense of exclusive warmth and elegance.

“In my imagination, the rug is an enveloping object that encourages gathering, calls for contact, urges surrender, getting lost, finding comfort.” – Elena Cutolo.

TURAN

Named after Turan, the Etruscan goddess of love, beauty, and fertility — known to the Romans as Venus and to the Greeks as Aphrodite — this rug is designed to embrace and protect.

Its irregular perimeter mimics the warmth of a welcoming hug, while concentric “frames” in varying colors and geometric patterns converge toward a delicate and ever-changeable core crafted from fleeces of varying heights, offering a highly tactile experience.

Turan is an invitation to lie back, let yourself be coddled and reconnect with your emotions.

AUTOMATA

With Automata, Elena Cutolo weaves a narrative that bridges the past and future.

Drawing inspiration from her adolescent memories, she incorporates musical elements, her fascination with vintage tin robots in dusty Budapest shops, and the enduring legacy of Isaac Asimov’s three laws of robotics, which continue to echo in a present and future increasingly dominated by artificial intelligence.

This rug is available in two versions: Automata Alpha, with pastel hues, and Automata Beta, featuring bold, vibrant colors. Both reinterpret the rigid, mechanical world of robotics, transforming it into a soft, inviting, and playful sensory experience.
