Seldens Announces Expansion with Bassett in Bellevue, WA

Seldens, a family-owned home furnishings and design consultation business serving the Pacific Northwest for over 80 years, announced its latest expansion with the opening of a new Bassett® showroom in Bellevue, Washington. This expansion solidifies the Seldens presence in the area, following the successful opening of the Tacoma Bassett showroom, and joining the three Seldens locations in Bellevue, Olympia and Tacoma, and two Summer House outdoor furniture showrooms — a brand which Seldens acquired in 2022 — in Bellevue and Tacoma.

This latest expansion, offering local residents access to premium, customizable Bassett brand furniture options, personalized design consultations, and an elevated showroom experience, underscores the Seldens' mission to serve the Puget Sound community.

The Seldens story begins in 1940, when first-generation entrepreneur Syd Selden opened a floor-covering store in Tacoma. Over the decades, Seldens evolved into a family-owned destination for quality furnishings and design expertise, now led by third- and fourth-generation owners Scott Selden and Loni Selden Cross (third generation), and Jake Cross and Nick Selden (fourth generation).

“Our goal is to make the process of furnishing a home both personalized and effortless,” shared Jake Cross. “For decades, we've been helping clients create spaces they never want to leave, and we’ve been honored to be their design partner. By expanding our presence in Bellevue, we’re giving families here the chance to experience Seldens’ renowned service and Bassett’s commitment to quality.”

Recognizing the affinity between the Seldens mission and Bassett’s reputation for durable, stylish furnishings, Loni and Scott Selden opened the first Tacoma Bassett showroom in 2000. Over the years, the Tacoma Bassett showroom has flourished, providing residents with access to beautifully crafted, American-made furniture and trusted design support.

When separately owned Bassett showrooms in Redmond and Tukwila announced their closures, Seldens stepped in to ensure clients would continue to receive support by establishing its own Bassett showroom in Bellevue.

“Bassett furniture clients want comfortable, functional pieces that reflect their personal taste,” Scott Selden explained. “At Seldens, we understand that they also want sustainable craftsmanship, timeless designs, and customer service they can depend on. We’re thrilled to bring that level of care to Bellevue.”

The new Bellevue showroom will offer a comprehensive selection of Bassett’s American-made, customizable furniture and Seldens’ signature design services. Current Redmond and Tukwila Bassett clients can feel confident that their service needs will be met with the highest level of care and attention, while new Bellevue clients can enjoy a fresh, inviting showroom experience.

Commitment to Community
Deeply committed to the Puget Sound community, the Selden family actively supports initiatives such as Because of Lola, a campaign to raise funds for childhood cancer research, in addition to partnerships with local organizations like the Northwest Furniture Bank. This year, Seldens’ annual Coat Drive for Kids is working in partnership with the Tacoma Police Department. This dedication to community welfare reflects the values that guide Seldens beyond the showroom floor, creating connections and fostering growth across the region.

Grand Opening
The new Bassett showroom in Bellevue, located at 11919 N.E. 8th St., is set to open in mid-December, with a grand opening celebration planned for Jan. 11. Clients can look forward to a modern, beautifully designed showroom that highlights the very best in American craftsmanship, customization, and service.
