Havertys Announces Enhancements to Merchandising Team

Havertys is delighted to announce enhancements to our Merchandising Team,” said John Gill, executive vice president, merchandising. “The combination of new and experienced talent and the advancement of our current team expands our deep understanding of consumer trends and will enrich our product offerings. These additions will also strengthen Havertys use of data and analytics to sharpen its focus on meeting and satisfying consumer needs.”

Heidi Jones joined Havertys from Arhaus in October as vice president, merchandising. She has almost 20 years of experience in the retail industry, developing significant expertise in merchandise and inventory planning. Prior to Heidi’s four years with Arhaus, her career includes positions with DSW, RH, and Abercrombie & Fitch. She brings strong leadership and a fresh perspective on the merchant’s role. Heidi earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Marshall University.

Alice Anderson was promoted in September to director, merchandising – upholstery. She joined Havertys assistant accessory buyer in January 2018 and was promoted to accessory buyer in May 2020. Alice used her creative skill in making selections for our accessory programs and her analytical skills to effectively manage the substantial number of inventory items in the category and improve margins.

Valerie Naples joined Havertys from Ballard Designs in September as director, merchandising - case goods. While at Ballard Designs, she was a merchant in the dining, kitchen, bedroom and lighting areas. Valerie previously held positions at Carters and SPANX.

Floritzel Moreno was promoted in September to accessory buyer. She joined Havertys in August 2021 as assistant accessory buyer and in 2022 took charge of the decorative accent category. Floritzel previously worked at Star Furniture as a buyer’s assistant.

Drew Alden continues in his role as buyer for occasional, entertainment, home office, accents, outdoor and online exclusives. Havertys draws on Drew's keen design eye in product development in all areas.

Abir Thakurta has added mattress category management to his duties as vice president, supply chain. Abir has deep relationships with Havertys’ vendor partners and brings his strategic planning skills to managing the mattress category.
