Gold Bond Coil Type Migration Due to Consumer Demand

Gold Bond, independent mattress manufacturer, is reducing the number of mattresses it produces with Bonnell coil units and is increasing the use of encased coils throughout its product mix. The company said that a combination of consumer and dealer preference is behind the move.

“Consumers like the improved comfort and flexibility of encased coils, which is driving our decision making. Encased coils provide more customized comfort, durability, and motion separation,” said Robert Naboicheck, Gold Bond’s chief executive officer.

“The competitiveness of pricing in encased coils is enabling us to provide even greater value to our customers, at price points that were unimaginable several years ago. The response from dealers and consumers has been very encouraging.”

Encased coil units also perform better on adjustable bases, which have become more prevalent in mattress sales in recent years.

Broader use of encased coils is starting to be implemented in several of Gold Bond’s best-selling collections, starting with the Back and Body series, which provides exceptional relief and outstanding value, and the Classic Collection, which provides durable full-body support.

Other collections include The Sacro Support series, double-sided, durable mattresses available in a variety of comfort options, and the Venice and Camelot mattress models, which feature a Leggett & Platt 1057 Bolsa spring system with quantum edge encased coils, providing superior edge-to-edge steel support.

The luxury Private Reserve collections is another two-sided, adjustable base friendly collection from Gold Bond that uses encased coils throughout its lineup. The collection features Leggett & Platt’s 1950 Zoned Quantum Coil unit with multiple layers, including zoned nano coils and Carpenter’s Aurora spring-like foam.

The quantum edge unit is made exclusively from smaller diameter encased coils for added comfort, durability, and responsiveness. Higher-end models from the collection feature Talalay organic latex, in addition to 5,208 coils.
