In honor of National Pride Month, Macy’s, Inc. recognizes the achievements and perseverance of the LGBTQ+ community this June through a partnership between Macy’s and The Trevor Project, the leading suicide prevention organization for LGBTQ+ young people.
From June 1st through June 30th, Macy’s will host a special round-up in-stores and online donation campaign benefitting The Trevor Project to support youth nationwide with comprehensive resources, including 24/7 crisis services, public education, research, advocacy, peer support and more. Additionally, Macy’s, Inc. nameplates, inclusive of Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and Bluemercury, continue to highlight LGBTQ+-owned, founded and designed brands by showcasing product and unique brand stories through online shopping events and more.
“As part of our Mission Every One commitment, we offer our customers, colleagues and communities product from LGBTQ+-owned, founded and designed brands, support Pride events nationwide and foster partnerships with crucial organizations,” said Bobby Amirshahi, Macy’s, Inc. SVP and head of corporate communications, social impact, and government & public affairs.
“Our longstanding partnership with The Trevor Project supports LGBTQ+ youth through access to lifesaving counseling services and uplifting PSAs that encourage young people to live their truth and embrace their authentic selves.”
Since 2019, Macy’s has raised more than $6.2 million for The Trevor Project, enabling the organization to spend more than 148,000 minutes providing more than 70,000 LGBTQ+ young people with specialized counseling via phone, text and chat. In addition to this year’s donation campaign, Macy’s partnered with The Trevor Project to create a special PSA exploring the power of self-expression and embracing one’s authentic self.
“Macy’s has been a steadfast supporter of The Trevor Project for years, and we simply would not be able to do what we do without the generous contributions of companies like it and others,” said Troy Robinson, chief development officer at The Trevor Project.
“For decades, Macy’s has been a trailblazer in defining corporate Pride; from its internal culture of inclusivity to its external messages of acceptance, Macy’s epitomizes impactful allyship. We’re so thankful and honored to celebrate another Pride season, showing LGBTQ+ young people we are here for them, with Macy’s by our side.”
