Dallas law enforcement veteran Brian Fillingim has joined Dallas Market Center as vice president of protective services, the company has announced. Fillingim is responsible for the security of the 68-acre campus of Dallas Market Center including more than 5 million square feet of interior space across four buildings.
His responsibilities include risk assessment, emergency preparedness, security operations, and the coordination of protective services personnel. He reports to Cherie Marcum, executive vice president of finance.
Bob Storer, former head of protective services, has retired following more than 16 years of service to Dallas Market Center and nearly four decades in security and protective service roles with numerous companies and service providers.
“As we bid farewell to Bob and thank him for his tireless efforts to protect our marketplace and care for customers, we are fortunate to have Brian join the team,” said Cindy Morris.
“Protective Services is extremely important for the operation of our business but also for customer and community relations. Brian’s background in law enforcement is impressive but he also knows our business, our campus, and our commitment to the community. His experience and leadership are strong additions to the team.”
Fillingim joins Dallas Market Center during a time of increasing scrutiny of cities and facilities hosting trade events. Dallas was recently named the safest large city in America according to the Gallup organization. Nearly three-quarters of U.S. adults surveyed considered Dallas safe.
“Dallas Market Center has a strong legacy as safe and welcoming, supporting our open-daily business and welcoming customers from around the world for tradeshows,” said Brian Fillingim. “Our goal is to ensure their experience is positive and that they look forward to returning to Dallas. I’m proud to be part of the team.”
Fillingim has arrived at Dallas Market Center after a fifteen-year career with the Dallas Police Department (DPD). He began with DPD in 2009 and spent nine years as a Police Officer/Senior Corporal in patrol. He then became a Detective in the Domestic Violence Unit for two years and in 2020 became a Detective in the Special Investigations Unit where he investigated Officer Involved Shootings, In-Custody Deaths, Cold Case Murders, Wrongful Convictions and High-Profile crimes.
