ISFD “Meet the Makers” Reception & I+D Exhibition Held During HPMKT

Mark your calendars for an exceptional Market event. On April 13 from 4 pm-6 pm the International Society of Furniture Designers (ISFD) will announce the winners of the prestigious 2024 Innovation+Design (I+D) competition.

The “Meet the Makers” reception and I+D exhibition held at the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame, 311 S. Hamilton, High Point, recognizes the professional and student finalists and winners of the designer-maker juried awards. This reception, with complimentary food and drinks, is free to everyone attending the High Point Market.

The I+D exhibition opens on Thursday, April 4 with a community reception from 5-7 pm and is open for the community to view on weekdays, April 5-12 from 9 am-5 pm. Market attendees can view the exhibit April 13-16 from 9 am-5 pm. In addition, ISFD member and author, Scott Coley, will be at the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame on April 13 from 2-4 pm selling and autographing his new book Elements of Furniture Design.

Innovation+Design is a furniture industry-sponsored event that was developed to help professional designer-makers and the next generation of serious woodworking students receive exposure for their work, make valuable industry contacts, and launch their design careers. It is an excellent opportunity for designers, makers, artisans, and students to gain career-launching industry exposure as they express their creativity and imagination with novel designs of executable home furnishings.

Professional and student finalists receive a certificate of merit and may enter the designer-maker or student category of the 2024 ISFD Pinnacle Awards at no charge. Category winners receive $250, and the Best of Show winner receives $1000. All winners receive five hours of free manufacturing time in the Congdon Yards Generator to work on any project of their choice.

ISFD wishes to thank this year’s generous I+D sponsors. Grant level: The Earl and Kathryn Congdon Family Foundation;  Platinum level: ANDMORE; Silver level: High Point Market Authority; Bronze level: Lockdowel, Continental Hardware,  Furniture Design Studios, and Sherwin-Williams, and along with Industry Partners: Furniture Today, Designers Today, Elements Studios, and IFDA.
