Legacy Classic | Modern Adds New Motion Groups at Spring HPMKT

When casegoods specialist Legacy Classic | Modern entered the motion upholstery category last Fall, the company said it was carving out a distinct niche. “Our fresh take on motion integrates wood trim and finishes from our best-selling collections, has an upscale stationary look and tasteful multi-functional features,” said President Chris Pelcher.

The debut of 10 groups was so positively received by retailers that six of the groups are already shipping, and the company is adding five new groups at the Spring HPMKT here, said Beth Dixon, senior vice president of upholstery.

In addition, LCM will begin offering select configurations in both motion and stationery upholstery, and offering fabric covers on select groups. The initial introduction offered curated leather match color combinations with 18-inch down-blend fabric accent pillows, which continues to be available.

“The refined tailoring and scale of our motion line resonates with retailers because it is on-trend with a stationery look, and it has all the key functions like lighting, storage, swivel trays, tablet/phone holders and wireless charging that everyone’s looking for in our smart-phone-centric lifestyles,” Dixon said.

“Retailers are telling us these functions are what helps sell the upholstery, and we will offer the functional features on both the motion upholstery and stationery upholstery.”

One new group is Sierra, a two-seat power reclining sofa and storage chaise configuration with a wood storage bookcase console, correlating oversized motion chair and storage ottoman with a lift-up wood tray and matching wood base.

Covered in the rich Ravella Coffee Leather, Sierra has a wood plinth base and wood trim in LCM’s dark Biscayne finish. Design details include contrasting whip-stitch tailoring, clipped edges and shaped ends.

Top-selling groups from last market will be offered in new configurations or additional pieces. For instance, the Solana sofa-storage chaise configuration with a lift-up wood tray arm will be offered in a 6-piece sectional with a ratchet-back, drop-down wood table with cupholders and power gromets; the Luna group will add a pop-out loveseat sleeper with a trundle; the Fen 7-piece modular will add a sofa/loveseat/motion chair option and the Esme 3-piece high-leg sofa group in the light gray Halifax finish will add a sectional configuration option.
