The stunning, one-of-a-kind Christopher Guy Wishing Tree is being transported from London to High Point for a special showing at the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame® building during the April 13 to 17 Spring High Point Market.
Found in cultures around the world, wishing trees are decorated with ribbons, notes and artwork that are expressions of dreams, hopes and ideas that live in the human spirit. The Christopher Guy tree, created by artisans to support Make-A-Wish UK, features twisting silver gilded branches adorned with twinkling lights and miniature furnishings that are handmade by skilled craftsmen using the same detailed carving, gilding, lacquering and finishing techniques that are applied to the company’s full-sized furnishings pieces. The tree was unveiled in September 2023 at Design Centre Chelsea Harbour, a premier design destination in London.
The result is a spectacular piece of artwork designed and crafted with heart and purpose. “The Christopher Guy Wishing Tree is truly a piece of art, and we are honored that their team wanted to share it with the industry in this special way, where the industry gathers,” says Karen McNeill, CEO and chairman of the Hall of Fame Board of Directors. “It’s really quite magical and inspiring in its design and execution. It will be an only-at-the- all-of-Fame experience.”
Like its U.S. counterpart, Make-A-Wish UK is a charity supporting children with critical illnesses. An animated feature on the christopherguy.com website offered visitors the chance to donate to the charity after the Wishing Tree was unveiled last fall, and all UK profits from the Christopher Guy Wishing Tree campaign’s home furnishings sales were donated to Make-A-Wish UK. At the end of the display period, The Wishing Tree will be donated to the UK charity for fundraising in its annual auction.
