Celebrating the remarkable achievements of women worldwide on International Women’s Day and History Month, Brown Jordan is thrilled to shine a spotlight on the brilliant mind behind some of the best-selling Brown Jordan designs, Ann Marie Vering. Vering brings an exhilarating perspective to Brown Jordan with highly successful collections including Oscar, Moto, and Oliver.
Ann Marie Vering grew up in the Midwest and studied architectural engineering at Kansas State University before moving to southern California. There, she honed her understanding of high-performance furniture while working on hotels, restaurants, and nightclubs worldwide.
Vering’s first collection for Brown Jordan was Oscar in 2019. Inspired by the legendary rope designs in the company’s archive, Ann experimented with rope loomed for Brown Jordan in Italy and channeled the high-design brio of mid-century furniture by Walter Lamb and Van Keppel Green into a bestselling new collection.
The inspiration for Moto, her 2021 follow up, originated in a very different place: her sidewalk encounters with classic motorbikes. “Moto mixes elements of soft and hard,” says Vering. “The muscular lines of the frame are offset with plush cushions and upholstered support panels."
Oliver, launched in 2023, inspired by the wicker seats of a 1964 Fiat Jolly, the design comprises gracefully curved bucket seats made of handwoven rope that are suspended and cradled mid-air by an angular frame.
Obsessed with glamorous outdoor furniture and with pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the outdoor category, Ann continues to partner with Brown Jordan on projects that harness her architectural engineering expertise, unbridled creativity, and strategic, down-to-earth execution.
