IKEA Spotlights an Exploration of Color with TESAMMANS Collection

Colour plays an important role in daily life. With the ability to bring joy and brighten up spaces, it has the power to transform our homes and have a positive impact on our wellbeing. But finding the right balance and grasping how colours interact with light, other shades and objects in the home can be tricky — making many hesitant to introduce more colour and leaning towards the safety of neutral tones instead. 

This is something the collaboration between Raw Color and IKEA set out to change, combining the former’s unique design language of minimal shapes and graphic lines with the home furnishing expertise of the latter. Together, we are exploring the emotional effects of colour in the home. The TESAMMANS collection will feature everyday objects that encourage and help people to furnish their homes with color.

A focal point of the collection is to explore how colour can transform living spaces and shape emotions, with the aim of making more people discover the positive effects of colour in their homes.   

Raw Color was founded by Eindhoven-based Christoph Brach and Daniera ter Haar in 2008. Working across graphic design, photography and product design where colour plays a defining role, their work has been showcased in museums and galleries around the world. They are known for their unconventional colour palettes and their ability to create unexpected connections between colours, materials, and shapes.

"The collaboration with IKEA is a huge opportunity for us to share our vision with a wider audience. Creating everyday objects that people use and interact with in their homes becomes a meaningful way to invite more colours and joy into people's lives," says Christoph Brach and Daniera ter Haar of Raw Color.

They continue, "As designers, we are inspired by the transformative powers of colour and how different shades interact with light, movement, materials, and each other. Colours are a powerful visual tool that evoke emotions and give life to our surroundings."

The products in TESAMMANS will be revealed for the first time at IKEA+ Exhibition at Paris Fashion Week from 29 February - 3 March 2024. The collection will be out in IKEA stores worldwide in April. More details of the collection will be shared at a later stage.
