The Color of the Year Brings a Blue Wave to Designs for 2024

Various shades of blue have been named as the color of the year for 2024. With links to the sea and sky, blue tones are said to evoke clarity, purity, and increased intuition by color theorists.

Looking ahead to 2024, the shade is already taking center stage with many major paint brands announcing blues as their color of the year, from dusty and steely tones like Sherwin-Williams' Upward and Valspar's Renew Blue to bold and bright hues like Benjamin Moore’s Blue Nova and Krylon's Bluebird.

Always on par with anticipating design and color trends, blue emerged as one of this season's hottest hues for Ceramics of Italy manufacturers. In shades from deep navy for a touch of drama to pale robin's egg for a more subtle look, a wide range of blue tones can be seen in countless new ceramic and porcelain collections that enrich spaces with a feeling of tranquility and wellness - such as Vibrant by Settecento and Atelier by Ascot Everytile.

Made by North Dakota woodworkers who hand-select the finest solid wood veneer or low-emission MDF, the navy Copenhagen file storage cabinet combines durable, high-quality materials with the handcrafted expertise you expect from Room & Board for Business.

Adding subtle color to any modern office environment, the Navy file cabinet invites organization replacing the dated and cold metal cabinets of the past.

Commercial furnishings expert Stylex recently announced the release of Luna: a contemporary banquette seating collection that offers precise specification down to the inch. Embracing the architecture of a space, Luna can conform to the contours of a wall or can stand alone to effortlessly transform an open area.

Reimagining banquette seating, Stylex’s collection features a robust selection of sophisticated fabric options, including soft blues.

The largest supplier of textiles and wallcovering in the commercial interiors industry, Momentum Textiles & Wallcovering recently unveiled its Digital Creations offering, allowing its customers to create a wholly unique wallcovering experience.

Digital Creations allows specifiers to choose artwork from a gorgeous array of pieces by world-renowned artists like Shantell Martin and Sina Pearson, a collection curated by Momentum, or even their own personal designs — which makes for some stunning blue iterations!

Nassimi's well-known PFAS-free performance upholstery fabric Supreen® is offered in a variety of unique colorways and patterns, including this cool tone. When paired with the timelessness of a houndstooth pattern, this color reflects the boldness of today’s trends offset with a nod to the traditional.

Having been diagnosed with dyslexia at a young age, Susan Swartz learned to use art as a means to express herself, viewing her neurodiversity as a creative asset. Later in life, she was diagnosed with both Lyme Disease and Mercury Poisoning in the same year, which resulted in a near-death experience.

Swartz will make her Art Miami debut this December. The exhibition—which will be held in New York-based Jason McCoy Gallery’s booth (AM510)—will feature a curated collection of Swartz’s large-scale paintings and sculptures, including the beautiful blue vase pictured below.

This showcase celebrates Swartz’s rich artistic journey, commemorating decades spent harnessing art and nature as powerful vehicles for healing, both physically and on canvas.

Known for his sculptural creations that test the limits of ceramic, Hudson Valley artist Ori Carlin designed the Bubble Vase exclusively for Available Items. Featuring eight connected, symmetrical spheres, the deceptively simple form in a beautiful greenish-blue glaze is the epitome of quiet luxury.

Imbued with subtle hints of gray and lilac, True Residential's newest hue—Bluestone—joins the brand’s rapidly growing compilation of richly-hued finishes that also read as neutrals. Just as its namesake stone, Bluestone exudes strength and versatility yet inspires calm. The color is also noted for its ability to convey confidence, depth, and inspiration—key elements when designing spaces exuding those sentiments.

Oeuf—the Brooklyn-based, sustainable lifestyle brand for kids—has recently launched hip-new apparel and products featuring a sea of deep blues. Handle With Care, Oeuf’s latest fashion collection, is a nature-inspired line of whimsical designs and autumnal patterns.

From cardigans and hoodies to coats, vests, tees, and more, captivating jewel tones color the collection, with many pieces featuring cozy navies. Oeuf’s decor collection also features sky-line hues, including their fan-favorite charming, bright blue “Rue De Brooklyn” pillow!
