Zaha Hadid Architects Gallery Opens with Rug Produced by Illulian

A new point of reference for architects and designers has opened in London at 101 Goswell Road. The Zaha Hadid Architects Design Gallery is a two-story space that is also open to the public, for the display of the products created by the famous architecture firm.
They include the Knotted Waves rug in the oval version, designed by ZHA and produced by Illulian, the renowned Italian leader in the production of luxury handmade rugs.
The project demonstrates the perfect combination of the brand’s crafts mastery and the design philosophy of Zaha Hadid Architects, capable of emphasizing perspective, form and space. Part of the collection of limited editions Natural Field, Knotted Waves stands out for the extreme dynamism and fluidity of its lines, in a bold alternation of expressive curves, intensified by the tactile excellence of the rugs.
The woven silk threads produce a particular glow that interacts with the matte look of the Himalayan wool, generating dynamic games with the light and conveying the illusion of three dimensions, challenging and reformulating the notion of space.
The inclusion of the rug in this prestigious context is proof of the success of the collaboration between ZHA and Illulian, and again confirms the extraordinary craftsmanship of the company in the processing of yarns, fibers and weaves.
Knotted and carded by hand, all the Illulian models cast a spell based on chromatic appeal, obtained by means of vivid vegetable dyes. The rugs can be made in two qualities, Platinum 120 and Gold 100.
Platinum 120, the most exclusive line, features the use of wool and silk of the highest quality, spun by hand, and extremely complex workmanship – as many as 180,000 knots/m2 – capable of creating very striking “sculpted” effects. Gold 100 offers rugs in wool and silk, still of remarkable charm but produced with a density of 152,000 knots/m2.
Furthermore, the Custom Made service of Illulian enables clients to obtain a rug absolutely made to measure, to respond to any type of request and personalization: colors, motifs, measurements and forms are carefully studied to give rise to exclusive one-of-a-kind creations. These prestigious bespoke items can be selected for residences, contract applications or the interiors of yachts and cruise ships.
