Hawaii-based interior design studio and home collection, Averylily, co-founded by Lily Kanter (the Lily of Serena & Lily) with her new design partner, Avery Solmssen (formerly Philpotts Interiors).
The pair have been working behind the scenes to get the interior design studio off the ground. They currently have about 25 projects in the works and are releasing an Averylily Home Collection in November. The Collection will include move-in basics including high-quality bedding and bath featuring
proprietary designs, tabletop, ceramics and decor. This collection celebrates their commitment to local materials and dedication to craftsmanship.
Averylily is known for its keen sense of materiality and context, with an inherent understanding that each space is meant to harmonize with the unique beauty of Hawai’i. By incorporating locally sourced materials, and touchstones specific to the region, Averylily creates an authentic sense of place that creates meaning in every space.
Lily Kanter talks about their collaboration, “What sets Averylily apart is the sense of place and community. The context of our surroundings in Hawai’i is everything. Having the opportunity to build a values-driven business that honors the people and places, with someone as talented as Avery, is a dream.”
“We have the benefit of combining her creativity with my business experience, and the possibilities are endless, while always staying true to/maintaining the soul of the mission.”
The two met when Lily bought a house in Hawaii in 2021 called Hale Mauna (or Mountain Home). Lily loved the design of the house so much, she inquired about meeting the interior designer, which as luck would have it, turned out to be Avery.
They met at the house and Lily instantly saw Avery's design talent. Shortly after, she proposed a business venture - part design studio, part home collection - and Averylily was born.
Kanter related, “The extreme point of differentiation for Averylily is that we’re honoring local talent and trying to work with local natural materials.”
And – in a fun twist! - they are pairing the color palettes with the Pantones from the fabric line of Serena Dugan Studio – of Serena and Lily. This just proves when worlds collide, amazing things can happen.
