Handy Button Announces Sale of Furniture Division to Alto Systems

Handy Button Machine Co., supplier of hardware components to furniture manufacturers, as well as a distributor of small parcel furniture sold through 3rd party e-commerce channels, is pleased to announce the sale of its Handy Living furniture division to HL Home Furnishings, a subsidiary of Alto Systems, Inc.

The sale of Handy Living will provide additional growth capital and a robust global logistics network that will ensure the continuation of Handy Living’s expansion in selling furniture through its trusted e-commerce partners.

For Handy Button, the sale will provide increased funds for its hardware division, Handy Kenlin, as it continues its 125-year legacy as a leading hardware supplier to furniture manufacturers nationwide.

Alto Systems is a global logistics firm that provides ocean, dray, warehousing, fulfillment, and trucking services and is excited to add Handy Living to its portfolio of companies. The acquisition of Handy Living aligns with Alto’s focus on acquiring companies with strong growth potential that can leverage the core strengths of Alto’s other businesses.

“We are thrilled to announce the acquisition of Handy Living and look forward to working with their talented team to continue the growth and expansion of this division,” said Al Garcia, CEO of Alto. “We see tremendous potential in the Handy Living brand and are excited about the opportunities this acquisition will bring to our broader business.”

Ken Shonfeld, President & CEO of Handy Button Machine Co., founded Handy Living in 2005 as the first high-volume supplier of upholstery furniture exclusively designed and developed to ship small parcel, sold through e-commerce channels.

“Alto has been a close partner with Handy Living for many years – assisting with warehousing and fulfillment - and I couldn’t imagine a better partner to acquire and grow the brand. Our team looks forward to joining the Alto team.”

Handy Button Machine Co. and Alto Systems, Inc. have agreed to keep the financial terms of the transaction confidential. Stump & Company served as exclusive financial advisor to Handy Button Machine Co. and its selling shareholders.
