Brown Jordan x Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum Blur Art & Design

Blurring the lines between art and design, Brown Jordan furnishes the outdoor spaces of The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, CT.

Founded by art collector and fashion designer Larry Aldrich in 1964, The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum is one of the oldest contemporary art museums in the United States, and was among the first to exhibit now-acclaimed artists such as Frank Stella (1965), Robert Smithson (1966), Eva Hesse (1969), Jack Whitten (1972), Jean-Michel Basquiat (1983), Cindy Sherman (1986), Robert Gober (1988), Kerry James Marshall (1996), and Jeffrey Gibson (2006), among many others.

Brown Jordan strives to make furniture that looks like art, so when it came to furnishing the outdoor spaces of the museum, we thought immediately of our sculptural, mid-century modern Walter Lamp Collection.

In addition to being objects of beauty, this timeless and iconic collection, is on display, encouraging museum visitors to sit, linger longer and enjoy the grounds and spectacular surroundings.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Walter Lamp Collection. What a perfect tribute for these outdoor furniture works of art.
