Walker Furniture Donates to Vets and Military with Help for Heroes

Over the past eight years, Walker Furniture has donated more than $173,000 in furniture to local vets and military personnel as part of its Help For Heroes program. Walker Furniture held a ceremony and luncheon at the North Las Vegas Elks Lodge on July 15 to announce this year’s U.S. Military veterans.

The veterans are receiving furniture, some specialized, as part of Walker’s ninth annual “Help for Heroes” program. Deliveries will be specific to the needs of each recipient.

“The Help for Heroes’ program was created by Walker Furniture to help make day-to-day living a little easier for an often-overlooked segment of our community,” said Larry Alterwitz, Walker Furniture CEO/owner. “This year the program is providing some relief for 12 active military personnel and/or veterans.”

This year’s recipients were selected from letters written by family, friends and community partners and reviewed by Commander Robert Bencsko and American Legion Paradise Post 149. The vets and military will be receiving adjustable beds, motion sofas, motion recliners, and lift chairs.

John Mull’s - Road Kill Grill provided the lunch to the veterans and their friends and families while the Las Vegas Rescue Mission donated food boxes to each recipient.
