NeoCon Highlights Sustainable Solutions in the Best of NeoCon

Sustainable products and initiatives were featured prominently at the recently concluded 2023 edition of NeoCon, the definitive event for the commercial design industry. From flooring with net-positive carbon impact to acoustical booths that promote environmental stewardship, NeoCon exhibitors are pioneering a more circular, healthy, and regenerative future.

Below are a selection of sustainable solutions that were recognized by Best of NeoCon, the show's official awards program, as well as insightful comments from the esteemed Best of NeoCon jury.

The Climate system enables organizations, teams, and individuals to shape and personalize their work environment to suit specific needs. Greenguard and GECA certified, Climate worktops and panels are offered in super E0 and Carb 2 certified MDF.

The collection’s robust construction, consisting of materials that can be refurbished and recycled, combined with its relocatability and multipurpose uses, ensure it has a world class useful length of life, negating waste and unnecessary consumption.

“The sustainability story is really what impressed our group––from the manufacturing process, to the materials, to reclamation.”

Taking Root is Mohawk Group's latest Beyond Carbon Neutral commercial LVT collection, with an additional 5% carbon offset for a net-positive impact. Taking Root’s 2.5mm and 4.5mm constructions also provide an industry-low embodied carbon flooring solution and feature product-specific EPD’s indicating sustainability imperatives for the built environment.

“This collection is artistry, abstraction, biophilia, and performance all rolled into a novel and innovative flooring solution.”

The Gala Pure ECO chair combines functionality, timeless design, ergonomics, and sustainability in a single product. It's manufactured with recycled materials, and its ability to be recycled at the end of its useful life makes it a conscious choice for those looking to minimize their environmental impact.

“This is a game-changer that brings beauty, sustainability, and high-end design to anyone and everyone––a 100% sustainable product that is durable and beautiful in the same vein.”

The contemporary Gateway™Edge tables feature unique soft-faceted edge bases in polished aluminum and multiple powder coat colors. Nienkämper uses aluminum extensively in the table program because all scrap materials from the manufacturing process are recyclable, and at the end of the product lifespan the component material is still recyclable.

All medium density fiberboard used to manufacture their tables is certified by SCS Global Services as 100% recovered and recycled wood fiber. Tops are available in laminate, interlayer glass, or Forest Stewardship Council® certified veneers.

“The star of the show is really the company's dedication to the environment and sustainability––even their sales reps were able to describe their sustainable process, from the loading dock to delivery.”

Inspired by the Fibonacci sequence, BlockO offers an ergonomic and acoustical solution that promotes conversation and community, all while planting a tree for every BlockO made.

The wood supply comes from sustainable forests that are certified and guaranteed, and the sound insulation technology found in the paneling is produced from 100% recycled plastic bottles.

All components of the EarthPly Collection are made of recycled, biodegradable, renewable or recyclable materials. The paper composite and plywood material is manufactured using WE Technology, meaning that up to 84% of their electricity grid mix comes from hydropower.
