Illulian & Istituto Marangoni Invite Designers to “Let the Rug Begin”

Illulian, the historic and internationally acclaimed brand in the sector of design and luxury furnishings, has constructed a path of continuing growth and evolution across 50 years of activity.

Founded in 1960, the company now helmed by Shahnaz Illulian and her sons Davis and Bendis Ronchetti Illulian is an exclusive reference point in the world of antique and modern rugs, with collections of prestigious décor solutions that become veritable works of art that conserve their beauty intact over time.

All the Illulian carpets, carded and knotted by hand, can also be made to measure. This custom-made approach, a strong point of the company, stems from the desire to respond to any requirements of the most demanding clientele: a service where colors, designs, measurements and forms are precisely formulated to give rise to unique, exclusive pieces that adapt perfectly to residential settings and contract projects like museums, showrooms, hotels, restaurants, cruise ships and yachts.

An extraordinary heritage, which new generations of design talent have the opportunity to explore and to propagate, thanks to a contest organized by Istituto Marangoni in Miami.

The president of the school, Hakan Baykam, has invited Bendis Ronchetti to present the contest “LET THE RUG BEGIN:” a competition open to students of fashion design and architecture, involved in the creative development of a carpet.

The guidelines are simple: to concentrate on aesthetic excellence, avoiding conventional design approaches. The students will unleash their creativity, submitting the design of a modern rug without constraints of color and form. The only fixed parameter is a maximum size cap of 250x200cm (8.2x6.56 ft).

The winner of the contest, selected by Illulian - Bendis and Davis Ronchetti owners - Laura Sordo founder of Grit PR and the Istituto Marangoni Miami Team, that will evaluate the works for factors of originality, production feasibility and aesthetic value, will be awarded a study grant.

The winning project will be produced and exhibited at the institute during Miami Design Week in December 2023.
