West Coast Golf & Tennis Tourney of IHFG Raised $920K for City of Hope

City of Hope and the West Coast Golf & Tennis Tournament committee of the International Home Furnishings Group raised over $920,000 for cancer and diabetes research and care at City of Hope, one of the largest cancer research and treatment organizations in the United States and a leading research center for diabetes and other life-threatening illnesses.

The West Coast Golf & Tennis Tournament held June 12, in Coto de Caza, California, honored Patrick Cory, former CEO and managing partner, Cory Companies; Howard Haimsohn, president of Lawrance Contemporary Furniture; and Doug Sanicola, president of Outdoor Elegance, for this year’s West Coast Golf & Tennis Tournament.

“This year’s honorees joined the ranks of other impressive industry leaders who have contributed to the powerful impact of City of Hope and what can be done all across the country,” said Rick Powell, committee co-chair for more than 20 years.

The culminating dinner and awards program included an address by Dr. Jeffrey Yoshida, medical director of urologic surgery at City of Hope. Through the story of a prostate cancer patient who lived and worked between Romania and the United States, Dr. Yoshida brought to life the benefits to both patients and doctors of the integrative system of care approach and practices available at City of Hope. The story also revealed City of Hope’s world-leading position in robotic surgery for prostate cancer.

In another patient story, he emphasized that City of Hope’s integrative care system made it possible for a patient to get a treatment plan involving many different specialists in a matter of four hours versus three to four weeks that is the more typical timeline across the medical industry.

He concluded by thanking the industry for its generous contributions that make it possible for City of Hope to help patients around the world.

The 2024 West Coast Golf & Tennis Tournament will honor David Binke, CEO of King Koil, with the event scheduled for June 10, 2024. For more information on how to support and get involved please email IHFIevents@coh.org.
