Momentum’s ‘Unexpected’ Collection Celebrates Color & Texture

Momentum Textiles & Wallcovering has unveiled a new collection designed by Sina Pearson that holds texture and color in playful juxtaposition: Unexpected. Robust with visual intrigue, color, texture and style, the Unexpected collection offers the commercial industry three fresh designs in a range of surprising and bold colorways.

For Pearson, textile design has always been rooted in balancing inspiration with a deliberate, yet organic process. This new collection— Momentum’s 12th with Pearson— celebrates this idea with exuberant colors, textures and designs that are, as the name suggests, unexpected.

The textile range also meets the most demanding industry performance standards and sustainability metrics - including GREENGUARD and PVC-free. Unexpected will make its debut at NeoCon in Chicago – June 12-14.

“Leading with optic fascination, Unexpected truly captures the creative spirit of Sina Pearson’s unparalleled ability to fuse color and texture,” comments Jennifer Nye, chief marketing & creative officer at Momentum Textiles & Wallcovering.

“Her ever joyful and fresh use of color and scale brings three phenomenal new patterns for designers and specifiers to leverage across commercial, workplace and hospitality interiors. We’re excited for this collection to launch at NeoCon and to showcase the depth that these textiles add to Momentum’s range.”

Inspired by chunky textures and beguiling colors - particularly lime, peach and lavender - Pearson envisioned a comprehensive collection of fabrics that immediately catches the eye. Marrying calm hues with punchy accents, Unexpected reflects color combinations that can be seen across recent fashion, art and cultural trends.

In crafting the three defining designs for the collection - Thick and Thin, Tweedy and Modern Plaid - Pearson was determined to have each textile evoke emotion— each of the designs and its respective colorway options were intentionally designed to be inviting, to be exciting, to be surprising yet extraordinary.

For specifiers and designers, this collection offers design solutions that pair well with solids, patterns and other textures for public and private spaces across the commercial sector. The textile designs within the Unexpected collection include Tweedy 548, a gutsy texture-forward design.

Tweedy is a fabric that begs to be touched. A tweed with a twist, this design allows for great depth and possibility in installation options. Leveraging uncommon color combinations, Tweedy is available in 12 color variations that serve as complements to solids, small- and large-scale patterns throughout commercial interior schemes.

Woven in a facility that uses a minimum of 75% renewable energy and is certified carbon neutral. Tweedy is bleach cleanable, composed of acrylic and polyester yarns and features a durability of 102,000 Double Rubs.

Thick and Thin 547 is a stripe with pizzazz. Pearson designed Thick and Thin to be fun, contemporary and inviting. The eight colorways are bold and bright, making this design ideal for installation solutions meant to draw visual attention.

While the stripes are woven horizontally, Thick and Thin is designed to be upholstered vertically, adding heightened drama to any application. Woven in the USA with recycled cotton, polyester and acrylic yarns, Thick and Thin is well suited for workplace and hospitality environments with its durability of 100,000 Double Rubs.

Modern Plaid 546 is bold in its graphic character and is defined by Pearson’s choice of color combinations. From pops of orange, chartreuse and kelly green to rose, cerulean and navy, Modern Plaid has the power to elevate interiors with an interesting layer that makes you look twice.

Offbeat in its design and scale, this contemporary plaid easily draws the eye. Available in six colorways and composed of recycled cotton, polyester and acrylic yarns, its durability is 60,000 Double Rubs. Fun and a bit funky, Modern Plaid is ideally suited for workplace and hospitality environments.
