Currey & Company Are In for Market with Product Introductions

Once again it is time for High Point Market which means new product introductions from Currey & Company! More than 258 new designs will be introduced with additions to the Marjorie Skouras Collection, the One-of-a Kind Collection, and the Hiroshi Koshitaka Collection. This April the Suzanne Duin Collection will also debut.

This April, the company debuts twelve new products designed by Marjorie Skouras – all  inspired by the Yucatan. A major recurring design theme is the Agave plant which is native of the Yucatan where many varieties grow. Some of the company’s most popular lighting was inspired by the Agave Americana flowers and continues to be an important part of her collection first launched in October 2011. Lighting, furniture, and accessories are part of the new designs.

Skouras shares, “I am still very much enjoying my now 13-year relationship with Currey & Company. It has been a great ride and I look forward to continuing our relationship into the sunset.”

The impressive Bismarkia Large White Chandelier was inspired by the Bismarkia palm, whose fronds are remarkably large. The Agave White Console Table was inspired by the flourishing plant of the same name, whose leathery leaves curl up from the ground just as the leaves on the console table do.

When Marjorie Skouras designed the Codorniz Brass Table Lamp, she was inspired by the Mexican quail that roam the meadows and woods of the Yucatan Peninsula. Ms. Skouras will be in the Currey & Company High Point showroom on April 22-23.

Also included as part of Skouras’ Collection, the Currey & Company showroom will feature an exhibition featuring 24 vintage Mexican dresses culled from more than 200 textiles in her full collection, that started when she immersed herself in the culture of the Yucatan and was drawn by the motifs and the designers themselves.

The Suzanne Duin Collection will be debuting six products at Spring High Point Market with more on the drawing board for Fall 2023. Her Annabelle pendants, available in three sizes, are made of woven water hyacinth. They will bring both texture and French flair to any space.

Ms. Duin will be in the Currey & Company High Point showroom on Monday, April  24t h.

Additional introductions from the Hiroshi Koshitaka Collection, inspired by Japanese architecture and culture are included. Guided by Koshitaka’s skillful precision, throughout the entire process from concept to finished product, “space inspired forms pepper (Koshitaka’s) lighting designs – orbs are nods to planets and spirals represent the spiraling universes that spin in far-away realms.”

A newly discovered artist, Nupol Wiriyawong, will debut his raku sculptures at Market. He is the founder of Clayday Raku Studio.

Mr. Nupol shares, “My inspiration comes from observing the relationships between people and their social environment and their lifestyle, passions, beliefs, and religion. I try to capture many generations through the lens of  surrealism.”

Along with the Clayday art objects, Currey & Company will once again show the soulful clay sculptures of the beloved Thai artist, Arjan Deng. New designs from Prakit Seeawong will also be on display – repurposed metal masks and robots all made from found metal parts sourced at his local car and truck “graveyard.”

His clever compositions give new meaning to scrap metal. All one-of-a-kind artifacts are for sale only in the showroom and are not sold on the company’s website.

From textiles to art pieces, none of what is being presented by Currey & Company’s introductions should be missed. Plus, visit us at High Point Market, IHFC, Suite M110 – 209 South Main Street, for any one of our Market Events.
