KUKA HOME Offers New Program of Performance Fabrics

As part of their commitment to provide the environmentally friendly, easy-care products furniture shoppers increasingly seek, KUKA HOME has partnered with Valdese Weavers and Crypton Home to offer a new merchandising program of livable Sustain Performance Fabrics® and Crypton® performance fabrics.

The program, encompassing a range of fabrics with multiple color options will be offered on KUKA's Mexico-produced assortment of stationery and motion upholstery, accent chairs, and ottomans at the April High Point Market.

Performance and sustainable features of the fabrics elevate the perceived value of the products and provide added benefits for the consumer.

Sustain Performance Fabrics® strive to preserve natural resources by upcycling their yarn ingredients, reducing their carbon footprint by using no water and limited energy in production, using no added chemicals, and having less waste through product longevity.

"Research shows consumers prioritize environmentally friendly products, including furnishings, in their shopping decisions," said Matt Harrison, president of KUKA HOME North America. "This offering of sustainable performance fabrics will help our retailers stay on the forefront of trends their shoppers seek."

Crypton® fabrics offer stain repellency and soil release, making cleaning easy. As consumers increasingly seek healthy products that enhance well-being, these fabrics use no harsh chemicals and resist the growth of odor-causing microbes.

The Crypton patented process for stain repellency includes an immersion bath followed by a heat process that seals the technology onto each fiber. Crypton stain and moisture protection lasts for the life of the fabric.

Sustain & Crypton fabrics are stocked in the US, so it takes less time to truck them to Mexico than to wait for product to be transported from China. Sustain Performance Fabrics® are made in the US and locally sourced in North Carolina.

In addition to being made in the US, Sustain Performance Fabrics® are Greenguard Gold Certified and meet California's flame-retardant requirements.

"Offering more North American-made finished goods is part of a larger initiative at KUKA HOME," said Harrison. "We are expanding our North American production capacity and localizing our supply chain to shorten lead times and better serve our North American customers," he said.
