Walker Furniture and CIS of Southern Nevada “Elevate Your GPA”

Walker Furniture is a community partner with Communities In Schools (CIS) of Southern Nevada holding the “Elevate Your GPA” scholastic competition for the third time. Again, proving successful, participating CIS Academy Classes in the Clark County School District collectively increased GPA with 120 students showing growth.

The reward was Walker Furniture gifting brand new furniture for the resource room to the class with the highest GPA increase during the 2022 fall semester, which was Rancho High School.

The winning class was Rancho High School’s Senior Academy Class under the guidance of their teacher Mrs. Hernandez, and CIS Site Coordinator – Teresita Ruiz.

Student Jocelin Jasmin Solorzano Salazar had her GPA increase the most by .287% and won $100 and received a certificate. The contest was judged by the improvement of the class GPA from Aug.  8, 2022, through Dec. 16, 2022.

“Being a community partner with our school district and CIS means a lot to our company,” said Linda Alterwitz-Mizrahi, Walker Furniture co-owner. “This competition to promote and encourage improving GPA is so important to position students for their future and we’re happy to help out rewarding students and faculty with furniture.”

Walker Furniture delivered tables, chairs, a dining package, bookshelves and artwork.
