Hooker Furniture Expands Collection with Susan G. Komen®

Hooker Furniture, a division of Hooker Furnishings, is expanding its licensed collection with Susan G. Komen® at the upcoming High Point Market, April 22-26.

Developed in partnership with the world’s leading breast cancer organization, the collection is characterized by signature pink hues, soft curves, and feminine silhouettes.

A furniture industry first, the collaboration was initiated by Hooker Furnishings to assist in spreading awareness of the pervasive, non-discriminatory, and devastating effects of breast cancer worldwide.

According to Komen, every 46 seconds, somewhere in the world, someone dies from breast cancer. That is more than 1,876 women and men every day.

“This partnership was not intended to give Hooker a competitive market advantage,” said Mike Harris, president of Hooker Case Goods and Upholstery. “It’s a different and creative approach to help fight this terrible disease that impacts so many lives.

“It is my hope that we can look back on this program and say that we’ve truly made a difference,” he added. “That we’ve been able to play at least a small part in helping to create awareness and supporting the work that the Komen organization is doing daily to save lives and end breast cancer forever.”

Last fall, at the launch ceremony for the new partnership, Hooker Furnishings presented Susan G. Komen with an initial donation of $10,000. Going forward, a portion of the proceeds from each piece sold within the collection will be donated to the organization.

“Our new items this spring continue to exemplify the spirit and courage of those diagnosed with breast cancer,” said Jenni Jungers, executive vice president of merchandising for Hooker Furniture.

“Embodying the tenacity and resolve of breast cancer warriors, while expressing the values and mission of Susan G. Komen, the pieces carry signature pink hues, yet are designed to easily acclimate themselves into a variety of interior environments.”

New items being launched at the April 2023 Market include:

~ Hope Chest: In early-stage breast cancer, “Hope” is about getting through treatment and eliminating breast cancer in the body. Hand-painted with the word "Hope," this small-scale Hope Chest was designed with plenty of storage for hope-filled mementos. Featured in a creamy white finish with an upholstered seat in a durable pink-tone fabric, the top lifts to reveal a pink ribbon memo board, sliding drawer storage and open storage space.

~ Eternal Five-Drawer Chest: Featured in a refreshing pink-tone color palette, the Eternal five-drawer chest is crafted with reverse hand painted glass. Sitting atop textured legs with an antique pewter leaf finish, it is framed with antique pewter leaf accents and matching metal knob hardware.

~ Perseverance 54-inch Writing Desk: With a nod to French styling, this elegant desk is featured in a soft pink finish. It includes a center drawer with drop-front for keyboard use, two utility drawers with a removable writing insert and a pencil tray with felt bottom. Antique Pewter medallion hardware completes the look.

~ Grace Telephone Stand: Sophisticated and elegant, this accent table in a soft pink finish adds charm to any living space with its compact design, scalloped apron and cariole legs that taper to the floor. Versatile in its design, it can be used for chairside, bedside or even in a hallway or kitchen.

~ Everlast Three-Drawer Chest: Graceful curves and feminine inspiration are evident in this this elegant three-drawer chest. Finished in shagreen in a subtle pink-tone, it includes classic bail pull hardware in an antiqued pewter finish.

To prepare for the collection’s debut at retail this spring, the company has developed a variety of retail sales materials to help support the launch with consumers. The materials include digital and print assets, photography, a retail brand guide, in-store POP and retail and e-commerce website assets.

The company is also working with its sales representatives to encourage participation in regional events across the country to help support and raise awareness for the Susan G. Komen® organization.

The products will be on display in Hooker Furnishings new showroom, located on the third floor of Showplace.
