Spring Air Buzzes into Season on Success of Hybrid Collections

Bedding manufacturer Spring Air International is heading into spring buoyed by the success of its new hybrid collections—Back Supporter Hybrid Plus and Grand Hybrid. Introduced at the Las Vegas Market, the two collections helped generate the highest door count ever recorded in the Spring Air showroom and drive a 10 percent increase in sales.

For their part, consumers have latched onto hybrid messaging as “new and cool,” said Spring Air president Nick Bates, “in much the same way that a decade ago, people would walk into a bedding department and ask to see a pillowtop.”

“Hybrid is the new buzzword, and consumers perceive it as a powerful term that hints of technological advances. Simply put, the products have an aura that make them easier to sell. They’re hot and they’re getting floor placements and we’re planning to come out with more this summer in Las Vegas.”

Indeed, the Spring Air licensees are coming together later this week for their spring Product Development Committee meeting, with the goal of expanding the new Grand Hybrid line, which was already rated one of the most comfortable mattresses in Las Vegas by Bedhead Marketing.

The collection is set apart through the use of Carpenter’s new Hypersoft Visco foam mixed with Serene foam, modern waterfall cover designs, cooling benefits, and 800+ coil count units with tri-zone support that offer softer gauges at the head and foot and a firmer gauge in the middle of the mattress.

“While every bedding company seems to have a different definition of what hybrids are, there is little doubt our formula of specialty foams on top of encased coil units give retail sales associates something new to talk about with shoppers,” Bates added.

Beyond Grand Hybrid, Spring Air is continuing to build on its best-selling Back Supporter line with the Back Supporter Hybrid Plus. The collection of eight hybrids infused with a variety of foams and gels offer expanded temperature regulation and enhanced comfort options at price points from $999 to $1,599 in queen at retail.

The collection also utilizes cool-to-the-touch fabrics designed to stand out on retail floors in stylish grey and black color schemes. The models echo the same blue hues on the handle, tape and label that is standard for the Back Supporter line.

“Given that consumers are walking into stores now and asking to see hybrid models, it’s critical that our beds immediately stand out in the line-up, and they do,” Bates said. “Additionally, Back Supporter continues to have one of the widest name recognition indexes in the mattress category coupled with price points that shoppers find very appealing.”
