Capel to Unveil Machine-Made Lineup, Expand Hand-Tufted Rugs at Vegas Market

Capel Rugs is showcasing an assortment of new promotionally-priced, machine-made rugs as well as more upscale, hand-tufted models at upcoming Las Vegas Market., which takes place Jan. 29-Feb. 2.

Retailers and designers shopping the market will see a variety of dynamic transitional and traditional designs making their debut. They include the new Zenith collection, which already is off to a strong start at retail, and five new patterns added to the highly popular Avanti collection.

"We are cautiously optimistic about the business outlook for 2023," said Cameron Capel, president of sales and marketing. "The U.S. economy continues to have challenges, but on the bright side, supply chain issues are finally easing up and inflation is declining. While many consumers are choosing to travel these days instead of investing in their homes, others are still on the lookout for creative rugs to freshen up their spaces."

To encourage retailers and designers to make advance plans for their Las Vegas Market visits, the company is offering 10 percent off any purchase with an in-person or virtual appointment. And when customers come in the company's showroom, they will be greeted by a series of fun new neon signs. Capel said. "These will be the perfect backdrop for posting Instagram images to share with friends and family!"

The company’s Las Vegas showroom is space A-133.

Leading off the slate of introductions for Las Vegas is Zenith, a timely collection featuring a plush high-low texture and a lively blending of natural colors. The raised patterning of the design adds flair as well as a feeling of movement and fluidity.

The Zenith collection is machine made in Turkey on Wilton looms using a blend of 90% polyester and 10% olefin yarns.

At market, Capel also is adding five patterns in seven robustly blended colorways to its popular Avanti collection of hand-tufted, all-wool designs. The new patterns are Charlotte, in a cloud colorway; Fiesta, in gray multi; Mahal, in teal and silver; Serapi, in misty blue and ink; and Kazak, in ocean.

Sizes include 2'6" x 8', 3'6' x 5'6", 5' x 8', 8' x 10', 9' x 12' and 10' x 14', as well as custom sizes. A 5' x 8' rug may retail for $399.

An innovative transitional collection with primitive and tribal influences, Avanti takes inspiration from ancient Eastern and Western cultures to create unique rugs filled with colorful character. Stylized mosaic patterning and traditional motifs herald the eclectic roots of the collection, which is hand-crafted in India.

Azari, a nine-rug collection that is hand-tufted in India with 100% wool, is also being shown for the first time in Las Vegas. Inspired by vintage Persian designs, the traditional collection includes two patterns -- Isfahan and Keshan -- in a range of rich colors and fresh accents. Colorways include celedon, gray, dark sapphire, copper, evergeen, pewter, ink, oxford tan and terra cotta.

A 5' x 8' size may retail for $499, and the collection also includes 2'6" x 8', 3'6" x 5'6", 8' x 10', 9' x 12' and 10' by 14' sizes. Custom sizes are available.

Another machine-made collection debuting in Las Vegas is Bosphorus. Made in the U.S.A. on Wilton power looms, these rugs use space-dyed polyester to create deep and rich tones with a soft hands. The collection includes three patterns and nine colorways: Bahktiar, in navy, chocolate and terra cotta; Heriz, in ivory, natural and rust; Ispahan, in aqua; and Keshan, in blue and stone.
