Report: McIngvale Bets $3M on TCU to Win College Football Title

Gallery Furniture owner Jim McIngvale, who famously won $75 million last fall by betting on his hometown Houston Astros to win the World Series, will pocket another multimillion-dollar payout if TCU wins college football’s national championship game on Monday, according to a report from Action Network, a sports betting website.
A story by Action Network contributor Darren Rovell said McIngvale has placed more than $3 million in bets on TCU at several different sports books. That would net him more than $8 million in winnings if underdog TCU prevails.
The story said roughly $2.13 million was wagered in moneyline bets, which don’t involve a point spread, and McIngvale wagered another $1 million on TCU as a 13-point underdog. (He will win the latter bet if TCU wins the game or loses by less than 13 points.)
If TCU upsets Georgia in the title game, McIngvale will need his winnings to pay customers who take advantage of his latest mattress promotion. He’s promised to give customers double their money back if they spend at least $3,000 on a new Tempur-Pedic, Sealy or Stearns & Foster mattress and TCU wins the game.
