American Mattress Company Expands to Two New Markets in the South

Frank DeMaio and Mike Kenna founded the company in 1988 when the two of them decided they wanted to keep a family-atmosphere at the heart of their company.

The two friends decided to strike out on their own and create an atmosphere with a locally owned culture of friendship and treating every customer like family.

American Mattress currently has 63 stores in the Chicagoland and Indiana area and now, they are expanding into Florida with two new stores – in Naples and Bonita Springs – which brings the total to 65 stores around the country.

From Chicago to Florida is as different as winter to summer. So, what made them decide to branch out to Florida? Mike Kenna responded, “We deliver 3^rd party to Naples’ area every month out of Chicago, and since they have a lot of Midwest people retiring there (we) figured it made sense to put some stores (t)here because of brand recognition as well.”

American Mattress remains a locally owned business, with a strong culture of family and community, so how does it feel to be branching out to another market in the South?

Kenna continued, “We all feel good about the market and excited to service Florida as the growth each year continues to expand. We are looking to grow this area to 10-12 locations to be able to service other areas in Florida.”

American Mattress has clear plans to expand their neighborhood and community to bring Florida into their family.
